Or, if you dont need to blow your images up too much in size, or buy in to the megapixel hype, buy the D40, the only difference being 4mp that most people never use…..oh yeah, and the D40 is quite a bit cheaper than the D40….
with the small screen is much better and convenience, and d40x dont have built in motor u will find out that u will regret once u bought this, lens with build in motor is more expensive wat
third point: It has a CCD sensor which does not match any where closer to the CMOS used by Canon 400D. All canon’s even new 450D uses CMOS sensor.. The CMOS sensor gives you better battery life sharper images and less noise at high ISO
The camera is very nice but this presenter is a very annoying twat! I just can’t watch anything if he’s presenting as he is just so bloody over the top.
Im selling my D40x and getting D300 or D700 if I need to blow the budget… I wanna take better pictures. 51 focus points or full frame pictures with an option of using fx or dx formats… I need to work harder…
i have one.. so the only fault ive found is that there is no image stabalizer in the body, so if you by a 50-200 lense for the
d40x by it with image stabaliser built in..
I work for Nikon and i’d recommend the D40x I just hate the weight of the D80 the noise of the D80 sounds cheap. The D40x is so much lighter and the quality of my pictures have been brilliant. If you are considering spending that bit more i’d go for the D200 much better build quailty. The D40x is so use friendly.
I did loads of research and i found the canon 400d comes out best. It as the 9 focus points, anti dust. It really is almost on par with the d80 but it’s about €400 cheaper than the d80. I used a d80 over the summer and i got quite a bit of noise..
I’m going to be getting the 400d in a few days and i thank it’s very good.
I’m considering buying a digital SLR because my current camera has slow buffer problems, i rounded it down to the D80 and D40x.. and I’m still deciding..
i’ve just bought a standard D40 because i was advised against this D40x because of extra shutter lag and flash lag. i also got it £100 cheaper than the D40x so i am happy with it.
still would be nice to see a comparison of the two though, even better for me if the standard camera comes out on top =)
HELLO everyone i need help picking a camera. I have limited it down to 4:
Canon Rebel XTi (400 D)
Olmpus Evolt E-510
Nikon D40x
Sony Alpha A100
I need the one with the best image quality, that will last the rest of my life, and that isn’t painfully difficult to use.
Thanks

I want to get a d300 aswell. Only because it can take more lenses than my d40x and thus allow me to experiment more.

A clearly well informed comment
i advised my cousin not to get the 400d, she bought it, and it broke in 3 days. i don’t like canon cameras, but they have nice lenses!

If you can afford the D80, then get it. If not, the D40x is still a great camera.
thanks for warning
D80 hands down.

Informative video. Not sure whether to buy a SLR camera, as I’ve heard that they’re better for pro photographers, right? And they’re alot more dearer.
Thanks for your post about phone..I got a lot of info from this post.
